You do not have to go far away from Quetzaltenango to visit one of the sanctuaries of Guatemala’s national bird. This is a unique experience to admire the mysterious Quetzal living in its natural environment of a beautiful rainforest. The village is about 1 ½ hrs by private transport from Quetzaltenango. Binoculars are provided as well as breakfast. -
Biotope del Quetzal, also known as Biotope Mario Dary Rivera, is a 2,580-acre (1,044-ha) protected area located about an hour outside Cobán. The reserve’s convenient location makes it a good place to stop and explore the region’s dense cloud forests. The lush, high-altitude cloud-forest ecosystem is the Quetzal’s natural habitat. -
The best activity you can do on a late afternoon in Antigua. This tour will take you to up to three mountain tops with incredible views, on your choice by ATVs, motorcycles, or scooters. Our first stop is ¨Earth Lodge¨ or “Hobbitenango”, an eco-lodge located in the mountain village of El Hato. This Earth Lodge is famous for its resemblance to the under-hill houses of “Hobbits”, characters from the well-known Lord of the Rings books and films. After visiting this marvelous place we head down the mountain and stop at Antigua’s lookout point ¨El Cerro de la Cruz¨.

Aguateca is one of the largest archeological sites of the Petexbatun region, located in the municipality of Sayaxche in the Petén department. Its topography is characterized by a cliff that runs west of the Petexbatun Lagoon. The site itself can be divided into three areas: the epicenter consisting of a palace that is associated with other structures, a causeway and a main square.
